i feel realy silly asking this but how do u save game?? theres no how-to on the loading screen and i dont want to have to keep skipping to the part im at by spam clicking and remembering all the options i made 😓😓
Hello! You can save when the notebook becomes available. You'll find the save tab in there. We get asked that a lot, we should really put it on the page somewhere. (It'll be very different in the final release)

From the error, it seems like the 'txt' folder isn't in the right spot. If so, that would allow the game to start normally but you would not be able to go any further than the start menu, like you described.
Can you make sure everything's in the folder like in the screenshot?

I just started playing this today, and I love it--the art style is just immaculate and SO SO pretty!! And not to mention the character designs are just off the charts. I just have a small problem. I play on mac, and after completing a chapter, I acidentally quit the application and was unable to recover my progress!! [Thankfully I had just finished the first chapter-thing so I could skip the start] Is there any way to save progress? Thank you so much ^^

Sorry to hear you lost so much progress, especially since the demo doesn't have a functioning skip feature! Saving can be done once the notebook becomes available. There's a little green save tab you can click on inside of there.
Honestly, I'm not sure why we didn't throw in a tutorial for that (it's a very common problem, and so easy to miss!), so that's definitely a priority for the full release. Hope you end up enjoying the rest!
Love this one a lot so far. I'm usually not big on visual novels but this one felt like it captivated me from the very start. I'd write novel but others have said it better than I already ♥
One note, there was bug after (shrine) where I went into laptop and tried the slime game - but it only kept playing the animation and I couldnt get out of the screen :(
Also I noticed that in some dialogue one person referred to char as "he" and then other char referred as "she". Not sure if it was intentional or not.
Also maybe for future, the save/load feature might be good to have bit more clear indication. Maybe I skipped the tutorial on it tho.. oops..

I've played so many visual novels, games with amazing plot, and amazing art! Although...this is the game that stuck with me the most. Something about is feels so nostalgic and I'm loving it. The art is beautiful, the story line is absolutely outstanding. I'm so for the gameplay. I can practically feel the love and effort put into this game. I can't wait for it to be fully released <3 Aaaaaaa

That's really strange! This issue will (sadly) likely still be there for the full version, so it'd be good if we got the demo to work somehow, but I couldn't really think of any other way to fix it other than those steps...
That said, since the full version will be very different and also not free, we'll seriously consider releasing a newer demo at release time so that we can try to work through these issues together before you make your decision to buy. Hoping we'll be able to make it work then!

Every other character has a normal name so i'm asumming it wasn't randomly chosen. Anyways i love it, gotta be my favorite visual novel. So excited for the full game

you can really tell how much work has been put into this! the art is amazing and the color usage ties it together so well. The music and story line makes it feel so sad but its a comforting sad, like you know things aren't gonna go how you want them to in life but it feels good to indulge in the moment. I think this is one of the best art and animation styles I have ever ever seen in a game, I mean you even made a feature that moves the picture with the mouse in the settings. You can tell someone has really poured their heart into this and it makes it so much more...just...AMAZING. This game will be in my head for years even after you finish it and that's when i know you have made an impact on me <3

This was a really sweet demo! I did notice a couple of minor typos ("who's" rather than "whose" comes to mind) but those can obviously be ironed out. I also felt some tonal whiplash in a couple parts, but those moments were easily overshadowed by some great scenes that nailed the mark, like the scary stories and the ending heart to heart.
Avidly looking forward to the full release! Obviously the Kickstarter has finished, but is there any other way to support this game? I think it's an awesome project. Best wishes!

The full version is actually shaping up to be almost entirely different from the demo structurally, so we're definitely hoping it'll all mesh together better in the end. Time will tell!

Honestly, I was a bit confused to see all the life sim elements in the demo, since their existence implies a sizable chunk of game time where the player is free to make diverging choices, but it seemed at odds with the heavily railroaded visual novel narrative the game was telling in the demo, especially with all the gorgeous unique art that accompanied it. Obviously, these factors didn't end up being relevant in the demo (although you could interact with them a little), but they make me very interested in finding out what this game's end product will be.
Game is great, wholesome art style, catching plot, amazing soundtracks and interesting message, but I was wondering, is there a way to skip dialogues, and if there isn't, have you thought about adding such feature? I forgot to save my game...

Okay, making sure you're on the "Extended" Demo, there'll be a notebook tutorial eventually past the dream sequences, after which you should be able to access the notebook. Hope that helps!

this game was so good! i really loved it, its now one of my favorites. the art style and the storyline worked so well together, along with all the characters, all of their personalities worked so well! i dont really know why but this game gives me a sense of comfort, so i guess this is my new comfort game! :D

can somebody help me, please? I have a Mac and every time I try to open the game it says that the game is damage and can't be opened. I really want to play it do anyone know the solution?
game looks amazing so far + i love the rounded pixel art style! ive had to replay it a few times though since i can only get so far in a sitting and dont know how to save.. i tried exiting from the phone but theres no load file when i get back to the menu :( i think im just used to traditional renpy controls haha

We're so sorry to hear you had to start from the beginning so many times! Just so you know, the saving is in the notebook at the top right, next to the phone. We know it's easy to miss and will make sure to address that as well.
Hi ! I am not on Mac! I downloaded the Windows choice :) Always when I open it, it shows me days in Excel, but when I open the Excel thing, I see codes and programming. I also tried copying it to another folder but there it doesn't respond at all :( I hope we can find a way for it to work!
Weird, we've never heard of the application opening Excel; sorry for the trouble! We can't seem to recreate that issue, but here are a few things to try/double-check:
When re-downloading, did you delete the old download/files from your computer? If not, try deleting them before re-downloading again.
Try running the app as administrator.
Just in case, do you have everything from the zip file in one folder? If none of the above works out, maybe a screenshot of the game's folder would help us get to the bottom of it.
The last thing would be to try it on another computer, if you had access to one.

Oh, I hadn't realized you didn't even have an application to start! There should be a lot more files than that when you extract it. In that case, maybe it's an issue with your zip extractor? Are you using winrar? The folder should look like this screenshot.

Sorry for the late reply! Saving's in the Notebook, which you can find by hovering your mouse in the top right corner. (It's not always available)
what can i do if a can't see the notebook i have the same problem but im on windows.
Hmm, it should show up during non-CG events (when the Backpack is visible) if you stick your mouse in the top-right corner. Have you tried that?
i have tryed that but could it be that im traing to save the 1st demos story?

How strange! We're unfamiliar with this issue so we'll run through the basics. Are you on PC, or Mac? Have you tried re-downloading the game?
i'm on pc, running windows 10. i think running it through the itch.io desktop application instead of downloading it directly actually fixed the issue!

can somebody help me, please? I have a Mac and every time I try to open the game it says that the game is damage and can't be opened. I really want to play it do anyone know the solution?

game looks amazing so far + i love the rounded pixel art style! ive had to replay it a few times though since i can only get so far in a sitting and dont know how to save.. i tried exiting from the phone but theres no load file when i get back to the menu :( i think im just used to traditional renpy controls haha

We're so sorry to hear you had to start from the beginning so many times! Just so you know, the saving is in the notebook at the top right, next to the phone. We know it's easy to miss and will make sure to address that as well.

Hi ! I am not on Mac! I downloaded the Windows choice :) Always when I open it, it shows me days in Excel, but when I open the Excel thing, I see codes and programming. I also tried copying it to another folder but there it doesn't respond at all :( I hope we can find a way for it to work!

Weird, we've never heard of the application opening Excel; sorry for the trouble! We can't seem to recreate that issue, but here are a few things to try/double-check:

Oh, I hadn't realized you didn't even have an application to start! There should be a lot more files than that when you extract it. In that case, maybe it's an issue with your zip extractor? Are you using winrar? The folder should look like this screenshot.
