TWBD Prologue Released (+1.01)
Edit: 1.01 version released
Uploaded from another computer to avoid being detected as a virus and fixed a couple of minor inconsistencies in the dialogue.

Our game's prologue's been released!
We wrote a bunch of disclaimer stuff in our Kickstarter update, so we'll just copy and paste the content below:
—————————————
We wanted to make this update both to notify you guys about it and also address aspects about the game.
So first thing's first - we've ultimately decided to stick with Gamemaker 2 instead of switching over to Godot. After a few days of building the game, Godot ran into the same issues as Gamemaker, and came to the conclusion the issue really was the testing laptop itself. So, that saved us a bit of time. We've spent all this time trying to optimize the game as best we can and managed to get it running mostly smoothly, but we're aware of some issues.
First! If your system is on the older side, load times (often blank screens) may be a bit on the long side. The game lags at all, the first thing we recommend is updating your graphics driver. Also, the prologue uses a lot of ram on Mac systems, just something to be aware of. We fully intend to look into these issues for the full release, but for now, considering the size of this release, it shouldn't be too much of a dealbreaker (hopefully!) Unfortunately, even for a genre of game known for being, well, not very computer-intensive, ours can be a bit more taxing due to how it's been programmed and the engine it's been programmed in. We sincerely hope your experience is smooth!
Now some disclaimers for the content itself - as you'll notice quite quickly, many parts have been drastically changed since our last demo. The visual style, the UI, the writing - everything has had a pretty major overhaul, and we know for some it might feel quite jarring. For years now we've been replying to comments on itch.io with "We hope the changes won't be too disappointing!" and other things along those lines, and now you can see for yourself that these are the biggest reasons why. While the style is unique to the prologue and not everything reflects what the main game will look like, the UI and writing style will be consistent.
We're fully looking forward to any critiques, feedback or opinions regarding the content. We also ask you to please let us know if there are any bugs or errors you come across (we're fully expecting there to be some — there always are, especially with saving and loading!). This is the final framework of the main game, so it'd really help if you could give us any tips to polish it up!
And with that, we're off to finish editing for the main game, and, with any luck, we'll also find some success in getting the prologue up on Steam. We hope you enjoy this tiny slice of what we've been cooking up!
Thank you!

i just downloaded the prologue, and i can't seem to open the file (mac), even after doing that thing about quarantined files. am i missing a step?
Hello! Unfortunately, there seems to be another problem that, at least for us, seems to (in our experience) only affect newer Macs, where it simply tells us the app can't be opened.
We've tried several fixes (chmod +x) to no avail. We're holding out hope that notarizing the app (giving it to Apple to approve of, basically) will solve the issue. We sent it off a few days ago but no word back yet, which is odd. We'll try and sort that out and get back to you if we upload a fixed build!
Thank you!
Hello, I know it's been absolute ages, but we just uploaded the new notarized version along with new instructions on how to make it work, if you're at all still interested!
no worries! i understand game development is a long process. i can't wait to play it once i get the time to (and yes it works ^-^) thank you for all the work you have put into the game so far, i can't wait for the full release :D
